Due to rising awareness and technological advancements, solar power is being increasingly invested in throughout the world. China has an abundance of solar energy resources. If the resources of energy are adequately used, it can resolve any energy difficulties. Energy is the foundation of a nation’s socioeconomic progress.
Zhao et al ( 2020) concluded that PV energy potential will likely decrease up to 6% in most of China based on statistically downscaled climate projections. Another important issue is the dependence of solar energy on local weather conditions, making PV output vulnerable to climate change and natural climate variability (Ravestein et al 2018 ).
This suggests that the low emission scenario generally favors the implementation of solar energy in China; and therefore, if this can be achieved, the expectation is that the goal of accelerating the development of distributed energy in east and central China can be reached.
Although projected global warming and its implications will be dominated by the levels of greenhouse gases emissions for the long-term (e.g. in the 2nd half of the 21st century; Wilcox et al 2020, Tebaldi et al 2021 ), the impact of aerosol changes on solar energy over China should be addressed in future works.
China’s energy sector has undergone significant developments in recent years, with a particular focus on expanding its solar energy capacity and transitioning towards cleaner and more sustainable energy sources (Hao et al., 2023).
China’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions and achieving its climate goals is expected to drive further growth in its solar energy sector.
