The applicable codes and regulations for designs, safety operation, and maintenance of battery rooms are the Building Code, Mechanical Code, Fire Code, National Electrical Code (NEC), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Standards.
The correct coding type for AGM batteries is "fleece" and not "binary AGM", as that is a different type of battery altogether. Pretty much the manufacturer coding does not matter. But as long as the serial number is changed by 1 digit and the battery has the correct AH rating plus it coding as fleece you will be fine.
When you replacing your battery to a new one, it might have different capacity of pawer, in most cars battery regulation module does not measure current battery level but only taking a measure of consumed power and how much power it deliver (charge) to battery. In my opinion when you are changing battery, you always should recode it.
Battery BEM codes are now redundant with the above separate channels. The most important channels are, Rated battery capacity, Battery technology, & Battery Serial Number. For the Battery Serial Number, just change one digit of the old one.
Binary is used for Spiral AGM batteries. The correct coding type for AGM batteries is "fleece" and not "binary AGM", as that is a different type of battery altogether. Pretty much the manufacturer coding does not matter.
Battery is in the trunk, and definitely has a BMS, in fact it was the car we used to develop the original Battery Coding Assistant in VCDS. We have been having a lot of issues with these LIN controlled battery monitoring units, especially on the T6 and I can’t re BEF if those in particular have a battery coding feature.
My rule-of-thumb is to pop the bonnet and look at the negative battery terminal - if it has a Battery Monitor control module (J367 on the WD-see picture below) - then it''s probably wise to code the new battery information into …
Depending on the IAM diagnostic tools some request the BEM code for battery replacement. In this case for VAG it is required to insert both lines of the BEM code of the new battery. Others …
The battery module does far more than monitor volts, it can shutdown systems as the battery starts to run flat (eg. Kessy) and in the case of my Audi it also regulates the charge from the alternator, so it will rapid charge …

On this module, I don''t think the battery vendor makes a bit of difference in the real world. The battery size / capacity should be correct for whatever battery is installed, and …
I already gave you a coding to try in post #4 of the other thread. But coding for that module is well documented in the Long Coding Helper that comes with VCDS and I don''t …
Basically, changing a start-stop battery poses no safety risk. If a high-quality replacement battery is installed, even without entering a BEM code, there is no safety risk, …
Trying to code the new battery to the car by following the guides for obdeleven. I can go into gateway 19 and into long adaptations but there''s no battery module. I found that if …

There''s a battery control module J367 (subsystem of gateway) on the negative terminal of the battery. In cars with Start/Stop or recuperative braking it will control the battery …
Each battery in an electric car consists of numerous battery modules, which in turn consist of many individual battery cells. Depending on the model, a car requires about 10,000 individual, …

Recently replaced my battery, so here is a brief overview. Batteries tend to last around 5 or so years, and our cars are pretty sensitive to battery issues. I have had a "Battery …
It basically isolates and DC-DC charges the starter battery, and controls various emergency start scenarios. You can''t even tell it the start battery type, which can be FLA or …
From memory, I think that the battery monitor module is reported by OBD11 as a "subsystem" on the Gateway module @ address hex19
I''m interested in using a standard coding cable anyway. From what I gather there are two different components to the process: Coding for a change in battery type (AGM …
