There is a big gap between business innovation performance, and room remains for the general enhancement of performance in innovation. Secondly, there is a significant disparity in the level of equity ownership concentration across various businesses, with a minimum value of only 0.079.
Aidan R.V. & Anthony E.B. (1992) contended that both equity structure and market competition can complementarily enhance firm performance and innovation. Aamir (2013) discovered an inverted U-shaped relationship between market competition and innovation in U.S. manufacturing firms.
Both correlations are statistically significant at the 1% level, suggesting a negative U-shaped correlation between business innovation performance and equity ownership concentration. Therefore, we can preliminarily verify Hypothesis H1a.
Among the various aspects of corporate governance, equity structure stands out for its influence on firms' innovative activities. This study explores the impact of equity structure on the innovation performance of high-tech listed companies, as well as the mediating role of R&D investment and the moderating effect of market competition.
Shleifer,A., & Vishny,R.W. (1997), in their survey of corporate governance, propose that equity structure indirectly impacts firm innovation by shaping corporate governance mechanisms. They contend that dispersed equity might lead to higher agency costs, potentially diminishing the firm's inclination towards long-term innovation investments.
Equity Ownership Equity ownership is sometimes interrelated with corporate governance and capital structure because the board of directors and shareholders together may decide not to further fragment the ownership of the firm by issuing new shares, which, in turn, will steer the request for funding toward other solutions.
