MEHs in rotational motion, wind energy harvesting, etc, are stated. Critical challenges, perspectives for future research directions about MEHs are presented. Vibration energy harvesting is a process by which ambient mechanical energy from environment or host structures is converted into usable energy (usually, but not always, electrical energy).
The literature review covers three studies aimed at improving energy harvesting from structural vibrations. The first study employs a piezo-aeroelastic structure to maximize energy harvesting through resonance effects, considering factors like air velocity and damping ratio .
Energy harvesting devices can also be designed for a combination of vibration controls. In , , , , one of the energy harvesting systems was applied on the vehicle suspension acting as a controllable damper as well as an energy generator (Fig. 27).
This paper have discussioned some parts of the vibration energy harvesting: collection principle, collection method and the energy storage circuit. At present, the research and design of mechanical vibration energy harvesting structures focus on three aspects: broadening the collection frequency band, collecting dimensions and improving efficiency.
