The city of Oslo has launched a grant scheme to support the installation of charging stations for electric trucks and buses in the Norwegian capital. The first round of funding through the ‘Climate and Energy Fund’ sees Oslo carrying up to 80 per cent of installation costs. ++ This article has been updated. Kindly continue reading below. ++
Norway’s national grid is powered by 99% renewable energy (wind, solar and hydro electric). Therefore the country’s EV charging infrastructure is powered by renewable energy. And Norway’s energy is not only clean, but cheap. The country’s low electricity prices result in further savings through EV ownership.
Technology adviser at the Climate Agency, Bergljot Tjønn, said it was “fun that Oslo now has three very different charging stations for heavy vehicles”. One is at an existing Shell station, while another is at an upcoming 24-hour rest area.
So far, 28 new fast-charging stations for electric trucks and buses in Oslo have been granted 25 million Norwegian kroner (about €2.3 mn), said 80% of the cost. Application for this first round ended on 01 December 2022. The deadline for the second round is 01 March.
You must also pay to park EV’s on municipal parking. Use the app “Bil i Oslo” or pay at a parking meter. The app has a map where you can see all charging stations and prices. You have to register your payment card to pay through the app. Find all municipal charging stations in the Bil i Oslo app. Check parking rules and prices.
The site, built by Oslo Havn KF and the city’s environmental agency, includes six charging points with up to 300 kW of power. It is operated by Recharge. The Norwegian capital wants to build a whole network of charging stations for heavier electric vehicles.
