BEIJING, Nov 16 (Reuters) - China's finance ministry has set the 2022 renewable power subsidy at 3.87 billion yuan ($607.26 million), state television said on Tuesday. The ministry will allocate 1.55 billion yuan to wind farms, 2.28 billion yuan to solar power stations and 38.24 million yuan to biomass power generators.

The announcement of subsidy phase-out led to a larger energy “rebound effect”. They adjusted electricity usage patterns to maximize revenue from solar electricity. With the impending post-subsidy era, the Chinese government has initiated significant reductions in household photovoltaic (PV) subsidies.
To test our argument, we use the case of the PV generation subsidy phase-out policy in China. China is the world's largest PV market, and the household PV industry has heavily relied on subsidy-based business models (Xiong and Yang, 2016).
Of that total, RMB2.28 billion (US$357.2 million) has been set aside for solar PV projects, with RMB1.55 billion available for wind. China has revealed its initial subsidy limits for existing renewables projects in 2022, however it remains to be seen whether the funding is to be topped up.
