With the deepening development of China’s NEV industry, many automobile enterprises and operators have successively launched the battery-swapping-type mode and battery-swapping infrastructure, accumulating rich practical experience in the field of battery swapping.
Empirically, we study the new energy vehicle battery (NEVB) industry in China since the early 2000s. In the case of China's NEVB industry, an increasingly strong and complicated coevolutionary relationship between the focal TIS and relevant policies at different levels of abstraction can be observed.
Aulton New Energy, Botan, and Nio are the main operators of battery-swapping facilities. Aulton New Energy and Botan are oriented to the public sector (including public transport, taxis), while Nio is oriented to private battery swapping stations (private users).
The battery swapping mode is one of the important ways of energy supply for new energy vehicles, which can effectively solve the pain points of slow and fast charging methods, alleviate the impact from the grid, improve battery safety, and have a positive promoting effect on improving the convenience and safety of NEVs.
