This Distribution Commissioning Manual is intended for use when undertaking testing and commissioning activities of electrical apparatus on Western Power’s distribution network. It's recognised that equipment procured by Western Power changes over time, therefore this manual does not aim to identify and document individual equipment requirements.
The main purpose of electric systems commissioning is to increase the reliability of electrical power systems after installation by ensuring a quality installation, identifying problems, and providing a set of baseline values for comparison with subsequent routine tests.
This handbook offers instructions for testing electrical systems according to National grid standards. Presumably, the extensive and thorough individual testing of the equipment has finished before the system’s commissioning started. Visually trace the interconnection between individual capacitors, and verify that they as per the drawing. Check the capacitance value of the bank using LRC meter, and compare with the specified value. Check IR values. IF CT or residual VT (RVT) is provided, it has to be tested as per standard testing procedure.
This handbook is meant to enable the commissioning personnel to efficiently complete pre-commissioning activities according to SEC Standard and specification before the equipment is brought to service condition. Handbook Contents: GIS and Switchgear: Current Transformer (CT): Voltage Transformer (VT): Power Transformer: Grounding Transformer:
